monaros actually raced so the name fits somewhat better. old guys get real mad when you hit em with the facts and point out that the new one is more "real" than the old

I don't care about how well they represent the true definition of "GTO". The car has its own history of being the first muscle car, regardless of the name. It could have been called the Pontiac Crap Heap and what GM did with it would be no different.

I thought the new GTO was actually a well done modern interpretation of what GTOs had been in the 60s. The fact that the 6.0 LS2 version likely had more power than any 60s GTO was icing on the cake.
