Here's a good route. You can ride it clockwise, or counter clockwise. Durango and Telluride are nice to stay for the nightlife. Ouray has hot springs. On this route, you cross over five passes: Lizard head Pass, Dallas Divide, Red Mountain Pass, Molas Pass, and Coal Bank Pass.

From Durango, if you ride east to Pagosa Springs and take 160 north to South Fork, and then 149 to Creede and Gunnison, you can cross the Continental Divide twice. Plus, you go over Wolf Creek Pass (Continental Divide) which already has almost 200 inches of snow. These two routes are very twisty and are probably the most scenic in Colorado.
