It probably still happens in some areas. The only transfers we do are to burn centers and nursing homes for the most part. If theres an issue with finding abed for a pt we do transfer some of the pediatric and psych cases.

Most of the people I send hoime I will give them the # to the appropriate clinic for follow up and if they dont have ins I willtell them they may be better off at kings county ( some clinics ONLY take uninsured people there) but we cant officially document that.

I even tell the pts I dont care where they get seen for follow up, its so long as the DO get seen is whats more important.
