In the late 70's I worked in the Idarado Mine. We entered the mine above Ouray, worked under the mountains, and the ore came out to the mill at Telluride. That road you highlighted is the Million Dollar Highway. Spectacular scenery, but usually crowded with RV's and tourists.

On a motorcycle, you have to go to Telluride. It's in a box canyon. A terrific road is from Telluride, down past Ophir, over Lizard Head Pass, down past Rico, down past Stoner, and into Dolores. Light traffic and tons of curves. It's closed in the winter. Check out the old mines at Rico, I did exploration work around that whole area. From Dolores, you can go to Durango and do the whole loop again.
