Got Invited To A Track Day
At the new High Plains Raceway, east of Denver http://www.highplainsraceway.com/track.html. All day Monday. I could go, but I'm not.
I haven't been on a track since 1984. I would probably be the oldest guy there, and I would definitely have the oldest bike. But the main reason is, my friend said "After you ride this track, you won't want to ride Lookout Mountain." I like Lookout Mt. The max speed on most curves is under 50 MPH. That gives me some time to think through the corners. I don't believe my old brain can process me moving at triple digits. Actually, I probably couldn't process everyone passing me at triple digits. I could go as a spectator, but then I'd probably be pissed that I didn't bring my bike. Maybe next time. |
Go anyways.
sign up for the slow group and take it easy |
Do eet.
There are no trophies at track days. Sign up for the new class and just go your own pace. If that is faster than novice, ask to be bumped up. |
Go for it! :rockwoot: You'll have a blast! Prolly learn some good stuff, and wind up a better street rider, too.
Like they said, go w/the novice group, and ride your pace. That's what it's all about. The biggest prize is going home with your bike in the same shape as when you showed up, and a HUGE smile on your face. |
Run what ya brung, so bring it!

Who invited you to the trackday?

On Tuesday, I met a friend who told me her 18-year-old son rode his 2000 VFR800 to the track day. So I felt bad. But when I met Dean to ride up Lookout, he said that it turned out to be an expensive day. A wind storm at the end of the day tore his patio awning off the trailer, his friend with a TZ250 spun a bearing, and his other friend with a 07 R1 totaled his bike and broke his wrist. |
