That's because he's not used to walking on human legs. If he'd been standing on a minibike or some thing of the sort, this would never have happened.

I bet its cause he cant look straight down from that high up, its not like lookin down when he's tucked under the windscreen on his bike leaning into a corner, "oh look, a penny, I'll just pick it up next lap"
