Most notably, Those in Illinois can now run redlights after a "Reasonable" Amount of time when on a motorcycle.

I wish jersey would adopt it...It happens to me ALOT when I am riding home at night.

I also like the idea of having your Documents on your phone.

I've heard there's also some huge penalties for bikers caught wheelying while over the speed limit.

Up here, wheelying at all is considered 'performing a stunt.' It results in your bike being impounded for a week, a fine of $2,000.00 to $10,000.00, and possible imprisonment for up to 2 years. It's up to 10 years on subsequent convictions.

It's bloody stupid and some of us are fighting this.

Because wheelies are dangerous? To who, pedestrians on the freeway?

It was part of a whole trumped-up crackdown on "street racing" and "stunt driving", where we're concerned. There were three or four well publicized incidents involving street racing. There are two that come immediately to mind.

The first involved a couple of 20-ish guys in their ricers who were doing maybe 40 Kmh (25 MPH) over the 60 Kmh (38 MPH) speed limit, when they collided with a left turning care that contained a man (driving) and his wife, out to celebrate their wedding anniversary. The newspapers sensationalized this by saying things like they were driving at more than double the speed limit. They played up the now orphaned young daughter. They did everything but tell the truth; that the man who was driving the vehicle that was struck was over the legal limit for alcohol.

The second was when a couple of entitled rich larvae were legitimately racing illegally on Mount Pleasant Road, which anyone who has driven on it can tell you twists and turns through a rather nice looking valley area in the heart of Toronto. They killed the cabbie. They did the deed. They were found guilty on the Criminal Code offence of Street Racing.

For some reason politicians felt that these two incidents, and a couple of other equally muddy or clear-cut others, demanded a response in the Provincial Offences Act, when Criminal Code of Canada charges already existed to cover these events.

Oh, and there was the guy who thought that his entitled rich larva son who got drunk and drove hos car into a river, killing himself, his girlfriend, and one of his two friends who were also in the car at the time was the only person not responsible for the incident. He sued the country club who "over served" his son, then petitioned the Provincial government to pass a law stating that all drivers under the age of 21, regardless of license status, must have 0% BAC when operating a vehicle on public roads.
