96 katana won't start

Its been a while, how is everyone.

Sold my scoot and wondering why i can't get it to start.
Things i have done:
charged the battery
removed carb and cleaned out all the bowls
removed all the gas and put in new
checked for spark o.k

? could the battery be strong enough to turn motor but not produced enough power for spark.

could the coils be bad?

pulled the plugs and they are wet so i figured it's getting fuel

any help would be great

Thanks,
Ray

you didnt clean your carbs correctly. the pilot jets are clogged because you didnt clean THOSE as well. just because its GETTING fuel doesnt mean its getting the right AMOUNT of fuel.

btw katanas SUCK. from experience.

Thanks for your reply, I tore down the carbs again and pretty sure i got every nook and cranny still nothing, I'm almost certain the are cleaned out, any other suggestions. It's amazing all the shit that came out but wasn't that bad i thought

Because it's not there anymore?

If you checked for spark, and saw some, the coils are not the issue.

Make sure you don't have a pinched vacuum line, and double (triple?) check your jets.

on a kat, there is also the possibility that your battery is just dead. just because it can turn it over, and make a spark doesnt mean its good. throw a charger on it, and see how it acts in the moring.

It shouldn't. It's all vaccuum on those...or should be. Shouldn't leak out when you disconnect the lines. There are 3 lines on it, right?

KAtana petcock is vacuum operated for ON and RES, but PRI will flow like the rivers of babylon without vacuum.

If you cleaned a bunch of crap out of the float bowls, you have to do like Bob says and clean the pilot jet and all the bleeds. The choke on my Honda works by air bleeds that raise up the piston/needle. If your jets, bleeds and/or the piston/needle are clogged or sticky, it probably won't run. But if you have spark and wet plugs, and it won't fire at least once, something is wrong. Either the sparkplug wires are on the wrong plugs or you have no compression.
