Almost that time...

The riding season is coming to a close (still getting the bike out on every nice day possible) and it's sad.

On a good note, the snowmobile is almost ready to go :)

Anyone else got any fun winter plans?

Mrs. Colleen 11-09-2008 10:40 PM

I live in Cali. :idk:

I live in Okinawa. It's about 70F right now, and that's actually the coolest it's been in some time. There is no riding season. ;)

Ninjakel 11-09-2008 10:43 PM

I live in south florida. We are just entering our prime riding season here.

But its all flat boring roads. Hence lots of trackdays soon :)

Particle Man 11-09-2008 10:54 PM

Even though winter sucks, we do have some sweet roads around here.

And some good snowmobile trails.

What's this season thing? It does get a little rough around February here but by the end of March were back to warming up. I forgot about your trip down here this month...did you come down already?

NONE_too_SOFT 11-09-2008 10:56 PM

the off season for me is drinking/snowboarding season... you know what they say, absense makes the heart grow fonder.

i just realized how much i'll have to up my drinking in order to actually classify winter as drinking season though... i may not make it to 2009.

Depends on my mood. sometimes it stays the same for months, sometimes, I change it every other day. It all depends on which voices in my head are talking to me that day :)

rogue 11-10-2008 05:27 AM

 Kelly's hawt ;)

Winter riding sucks....the cold...the 4 layers of clothes...my hands freezing...hoping this season I can get some heated grips :D

One of these days I'm going to go north for a weekend so I can play in the snow. I've never truly done that. I couldn't live with it though...no fucking way.....

DLIT 11-10-2008 05:57 AM

There's really no off season here in Vegas. I would actualy call summer the off season. It gets so hot out here that we time our rides that we're where we want to be when the sun comes up. Try to be home around 9-10. But during the winter I'll be trying to get as much horsepower out of my bike as I can afford. That and getting its race bodywork on for some track days and maybe some races next year.

felyn3 11-10-2008 08:48 AM

With the dual soprts, I don't mind going out riding when the roads are sloppy, so I'll probably still manage several rides over the winter months, unless we get heavy snow. I hunt, too, so that will keep me busy over the winter.

tommymac 11-11-2008 10:18 AM

I am going to work my ass off this winter, between a house downpayment, starting my TL project and looking for a new track bike I need to finance all this somehow.

Ditto. GOing to try some slopes I haven't been to yet. :dthumb: Where do you snowboard in Ohio? :idk:

MikeSP1 11-11-2008 01:14 PM

If I don't have to go in this weekend (ya right, who am I kidding) then I'll head down to Takeda and buy new board/boots/bindings and hit the slopes 'til I head to the desert. Oh yeah, and mods/repairs (fender, brakes, forks...)

Snowboarding you say? Akron, Ohio? Can only be one place

I learned how to ski when I was 4 years old at Boston Mills. Learned how to snowboard when I was 22 at Brandywine. I've had lot's of fun on those two hills growing up. Held a season pass for years.

My winter plans? Ride. We don't have much in the way of winter here in Okieland.

hell ya, nice to meet a former local.

I personally hate BWBM, but i can get in for 10 bucks friday and saturday, and that aint shabby. BW's terrain park has gotten much better as well, sadly no half pipe in a few years though.

I like to head to peak and peak, holiday valley, and especially Gore Mt when the weather is bad.

brandywine and boston mills is closest. You wanna meet up in holiday valley or peak and peak sometime this winter?

Krabill 11-11-2008 04:18 PM

I was born in Alliance and grew up there (with a cabin in Northern Michigan where we spent our summers and winter breaks). Lived in Canton for a while, North Canton for a while. Played in a few bands around Canton and Akron for a few years.

I think BW had just started making their half-assed half pipe for a couple years before I moved away, so I never really saw much of a terrain park. I usually did the night skiing thing because we got a decent discount for the Wednesday night weekly deal.

When I moved to Michigan I joined the ski team and skied all over up there, but I think I only made it to P&P once and Holiday Valley once. BMBW was just closer for me.

NONE_too_SOFT 11-11-2008 04:25 PM

the terrain park at BW is really great now. they usually set up a huge 2 stepped 15-20 foot ramp w/ landing right off the bat with an elevated launch pad. you can get tons of air.

they had about half a dozen table tops, a quarter pipe, a few boxes, a rainbow rail, a whale rail, a straight rail w/ jump and landing, some smaller hills, and a few combinations. that was last year.

its gotten better every year.

Sure, I have no idea where those are, but sure. Have to go out on a weekend. I usually go to the Wisp and Seven Springs during the week- gotta love local nights and company hookups. I'm also planning to hit Blue Knob and Snowshoe and maybe Canaan Valley.

BobTheBiker 11-11-2008 06:08 PM

"off season" what is this off season thing you people speak of? I'm in central florida, where "winter" means just throw on a longer shirt under your riding jacket, and some heavier gloves.

I think I'm going to use that cold month to put some new pilot jets in and get some velocity stacks built for my bike.

I'm weak. I can't stand the cold. It's just so much better to get into my Jeep and fire up the seat heater.

Trip 11-17-2008 02:41 PM

I go into hibernation for winter.

LeeNetworX 11-17-2008 04:29 PM

I'm going to start working on the first two rooms of my basement to be finished: my workshop and the home gym. Also going to try and clear out as much brush behind our fence as possible while it's thinned out for the Winter. Ideally, I want to clear it all the way down to the creek.

Mr Lefty 11-17-2008 04:36 PM

I got tired of all the steps to put my bike in storage... so I just totaled it.

You're right. Winter storage is a huge pain. I might try your method next year.
