that looks pretty badass to me. I"ll take 5 of em!

according to their specs that comes to 2.56 lbs per hp. Now I was just sitting here trying to come up with a poor boy option...I know a typical middle weight RR can be tuned into 118 hp and track prepped to 370 some odd pounds or 3.14 lbs per hp.
Someone help me find a way to get a cheapo used 600 down to 300 lbs...or cheap durable engine mods to get 145 hp in a 370 lbs chassis. Of course there is no way to duplicate the light and responsive nature of a bike weighig just 286 lbs. Or the responsiveness of a tuned 500 cc 2 stroke so I am probably better off spending my time wanking to old Jessica Biel photos huh:idk: |

Here comes the flames... um can't you get a GSXR1000 down to about 370 lbs? Hp is a no brainer and I get about 85 ft/lbs of torque from mine with a slip on and PCIII. Hey better yet, what about the 750? Seriously, once you remove all the "street gear",sub frame, etc wouldn't that meet your criteria? Hey,I used to ride a RZ350 back in the day and I understand what a 2-stroke can bring to the table but....for power band,reliability,tune-ability,etc don't 4-strokes beat them hands down? |
I had some seat time on a TZ 250 Tigger and I don't think I can make a 370 lb bike handle like a 286 or whatever bike does...90 lbs is an incredible difference in braking and turning. I think even the AMA superbikes weigh more than 370 lbs. And then their is the difference in engine/crankshaft mass...Just no way to replicate it on a budget.
On the other hand your right, 4 strokes are so much better with maintenance there isn't a comparison at all. They are pretty great. So on an ulimited budget, sure we build a bare bones titanium framed GSXR1000 with ultra light forks and wheels. Everything lightened. Or we spend the same amount and buy this 500...:idk: |

Note: let's use carbon fiber for the frame on our imaginary GSXR!:drool::drool: besides I think Ti is too stiff... |
On my budget I was thinking bolting an old ninja 250 motor to my mountain bike!

I wish I had an Xbox...I still have the original Playstation. and not the PS2 either. I do have 2 WSBK games and a dirt bike/streetbike simulation for it though. And get this, I have a SEGA Genesis with Kawaski Superbikes racing...Talk about low tech! But I still play them.

Their use to be 5 to 10 of us any given Sunday in the school parking lot F'n around on these things. Lots of rash and even more fun. The fad just played itself out. Just a few even still have'em now and nobody rides sept in driveway any more.
|
I see some folks (students) here in Fayetteville commuting around town on these things...The larger pocket bikes even though they will run 50 don't look safe or legal as they dont have any lights, signals, or mirrors...:idk:

My little rocket weighs 321 #'s with all fluids but gas as it sits right now. It puts out about 84 hp at the crank. (904 stock, 42mm keihins, Moto Corse full system). If I go with the FBF big bore kit :
BF 944cc big bore Kit 12.1 pistons Titanium connecting rods FBF power crank FBF ported cylinder heads Oversized valves Lightweight flywheel If Ferracci installs it, they guarantee 100 hp AT THE REAR WHEEL. Lesse; if I ditch the Antara mags and go with Dymag CF's, I'll save a whopping 24 lbs alone. (http://www.oncycles.com/dymag/carbon.asp). The aluminum flywheel saves almost 6 lbs., Ti clipons, pegs, CF custom bodywork for the top and side panels, and mebbe Ti triples and lighter weight rotors than the big Brembos, I should be able to shave another 5-8 lbs....that should put me in the 285-9 range; it'll make more power everywhere but most of it goes to the top end, it won't have the all-or-nothing lightswitch powerband of a highly tuned two-stroke...... HMMMMMM.................................... |
