600s to replace 250s in FIM

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2008/Sep/080927d.htm

Not til 2011, but this could make things interesting and improve the 600 market even more.

PiZdETS 09-27-2008 01:48 PM

Damn that's awesome. 22,000 RPM anyone?

Mr Lefty 09-27-2008 02:33 PM

AWESOME!

though I wonder if they'll bitch about the corner speeds too?

wonder what the weights will be?

I think we'll see a much larger trickle down from them to our bikes than the full motogp bikes and AMA, WSBK

I'm just curious how much more shit you can add to a production 600 and keep it durable and reliable. I'm sure we'll find out in 3-5 years. It's gonna be sick.

I hear what your saying about what it will do for the 600 class, but if that means bye bye YzR-250(AKA the R4), And other future small bore plans then bahh hummbug!

Trip 09-27-2008 10:16 PM

yzr4 250 will be a 4 stroke, not a 2 smoke like the FIM 250s

I don't see that having an effect on those bikes at all.

Mr Lefty 09-27-2008 10:17 PM

wonder if the 125's will eventually go 250cc 4cyl

Gunther1000 09-27-2008 10:27 PM

The only bike to justify sheding of another 2-Stroke class hasn't even been Produced yet...

No effort into the clean 2 cycle tech that is out there...

And Raising it all the way to another 600 class. If only a 400cc 75 MPG Turbo Bike (Under 325 Lbs please) would ever have a class of its own then maybe something fun would trickle down to the average Joe.

Something New!

And no the Ninja 250 just isnt cutting it!

he's saying if this causes yami to scrap the plans for the R4... then he doesn't like it...

but like trip said... one is a 2 stroke the other a 4... one shouldn't effect the other

800s, fool. 125s and 250s, technically, aren't GP bikes.

If the 600s will have the same rules as GP, i.e. no restrictions, except for weight and the max cylibders for the 600s will be 4. MotoGP bikes have free reign as far as cylinders, but that won't stop the 600s from being insane!

Don't forget the stories of how we passed 1000s on a stretch of twisties I've been riding for 20+ years and the 1000 riders have only been there for 1+.

I'm hearing somewhere in the 170 kilo range. That's 374 lbs wet, ready to race.
