Armored Shirt
2 Attachment(s)
Anyone own Bohn and besides the fact that it is ugly as fuck, what do you think about this?I'm honestly tired of screwing around with my suit's armor and I'm thinking that this might replace it. Besides, my suit has a soft back pad and I hate using my back protector. Thanks for your input.

I have one from AXO that is complete shit. it's better than nothing... but it's not the quality of a lot of armored shirts...
the one thing i'll say I really like (though mine falls short compared to others) is the kidney belt... makes a big difference |

yeah it was sure nice taking the jacket on and off.. but it was a lot hotter in my jacket than the normal armor was mainly because it blocks where the vents are!
I think if I had to do it again Bohn is who I'd go with... I think they have several options though... |

I have a 661 Vapor Pressure Suit I use for DS riding. All I wear over it is a jersey. Fits great, plenty of adjustment points and tons of ventillation. I wear a knockoff underarmour compression shirt under it.
http://www.cambriabike.com/Images/pr..._suit_2010.jpg It would probably fit fine under some leathers if you took the built-in armor out. |
When it's REALLY hot in the summer, ALOT of MX guys wear JUST the armor shirt...

I need a new one for this year, that black Bohn Extreme looks like the ticket, and I've had good luck with all my Bohn back protectors and fancy underwear. JC |
I have the back protector too and I like it. If you get it let me know how you like it. I have been eyeing the armored pants for a while.

I wear this year round under all my jackets. -20f to 120F outside. Doesnt matter. It fits tight and I feel like the armor will stay in place better if I were to roll/slide during a wreck better than just the jackets armor. Even a tight fitting jacket, the armor is "loose" feeling.
I do recommend that if it has velco parts, see if it's a "micro" felt or "coarse" felt. If it's micro feeling then get some coarse felt sewn over it because it just wears out and the "male" part of the velcro on the straps wont have anything to bite into. I have to stretch mine tight to get some good felt for good bite. In the pics I forgot to pull up the front past the main big velcro strap. There are velcro patches that keep the upper part attached to that big strap. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...et003Large.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...et008Large.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...et009Large.jpg |
I lot of people that I know have given up on built in armor. Also, there is a mindset that espouses the belief that you can curtail some of the necessary size compromises when you do separate armor and get a suit that is better tailored to your body. Which is supposedly better in the safety department as well as better aerodynamically.:idk:
