Naming your bike?

I haven’t seen this discussed in ages and was asked about it today.

Do you or have you name your bike(s)?
What would you think if someone told you they had named theirs?
How do you / would you come up with a name?

I have never named a bike (or car for that matter) and don’t plan to just asking…

z06boy 12-15-2010 03:49 PM

I've called my bikes a name or two in the past  but NO I've never actually given one a name.

Hydrant 12-15-2010 03:57 PM

The TL has gone by usually two names 1) Perfect or, 2) Piece of shit, or 3) You motherfucker.

CasterTroy 12-15-2010 04:05 PM

I typically name my bikes....:idk: Kinda ghey but hey….

Current one is "The Beast" because of the sound, and because she's so damn nasty

The RT was "Black Pearl"

The Gixxer was Bumble Bee

My TLR was "Elvira" because she set my heart on fire

We named the cars too. Since we have two of the same brand, PLUS we're just goofy like that.

The white 5 series we named "Christine" because I swear she's trying to kill me! Nickel and diming me to death PLUS locking my ass out (dash computer fried)

The "Z" my wife named "Sasha" (not because of the pres' daughter) because that car's a euro trash elitist bitch and that named seemed appropriate.

The exploder we call "James" because it chauffeurs the family around when we're all together

Honda named them for me, hurricane, fireblade, hawk...

smileyman 12-15-2010 04:43 PM

I named the buell 'Porco Rosso' after an anime cartoon. Means Red Pig and here in Arkansas Razorback country is not only fitting but appropriate. It hogs the road, snorts, roots, and generally runs wild.

Trip 12-15-2010 04:44 PM

dont do it. I call them by their given names.

I call the cbr my bitch from time to time, the klr gets refereed to as the donkey, and the cb350 usually just gets called a few curse words. Other than that just either call them by color (the yellow or red bike). And then by the actual model name

smileyman 12-15-2010 06:43 PM

I didnt name any of my Jap bikes. No character , no name.

Particle Man 12-15-2010 06:46 PM

ontwo 12-16-2010 12:14 AM

I have no imagination. I call mine Monster

defector 12-16-2010 08:11 AM

Only track bikes get named for me.

101lifts2 12-16-2010 09:05 PM

If you name your bike the same name as what the OEM named it, then you have the same name as everyone else.

I call my bike using its VIN, that way it's specific.

HokieDNA01 12-17-2010 03:07 AM

I have been calling my bike "Jailbait" since I met her cause I am always wanting to do illegal things with her.

nhgunnut 12-22-2010 06:43 AM

A friend named my 05 Busa Sleepa because there are no obvious signs of the Turbo conversion

snobuny 12-22-2010 08:48 PM

Hubbies old school zx7 is the "fat girl".....if you have even ridden one you would understand. Favorite saying is "fat girls need love too"

My zx6 is Daisy as in riding miss daisy....don't know why or how it started but that is their names.

Didn't name the track bike yet.....need to figure out its personality better.

Rangerscott 12-24-2010 01:14 AM

racedoll 12-25-2010 04:28 PM

I don't have a name for mine. Not sure about Erik's, if he has names. I don't ask.

LeeNetworX 01-04-2011 02:05 PM

Never named any of mine but I've often referred to them as "her" or "she".

Usually when I call my bike a name, it is in a fit of rage.

Seeing this thread again reminded me of a pic a friend found of me after an unsuccessful pass last race weekend.
