don't worry, they are equally as relevant, both the jokes and the actors, dead or alive.

ASSOCIATED PRESS
BURBANK, Calif. -- The Los Angeles coroner's office says "The Lost Boys" actor Corey Haim is dead at 38.

Coroner's Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said Wednesday that Haim died at 2:15 a.m. at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. She said an autopsy will determine the cause of death and there are no other details.

Canadian-born Haim became a teen heartthrob with the 1986 film "Lucas" and 1987's "The Lost Boys."

His first role was in the 1984 hit "Firstborn," in which he played a young child caught up in a family war. He then appeared in the 1985 television movie "A Time to Live."

In recent years, he appeared in the A&E reality TV show "The Two Coreys" with his friend Corey Feldman. It was canceled in 2008 after two seasons.

That's insane, I was talking with my cousin on Facebook last night about "The Lost Boys" and the time she had gone to see it when I was staying with her. Then he died.

I'm cursed.

Yes, and the standings probably changed in a lot of death pools.

Avatard 03-10-2010 11:00 AM

Yeah, this is kind of a surprise, my money really was on the "other Corey" to off himself first.

Dave 03-10-2010 11:12 AM

my money is on him cleaning himself up and making a failed run on the white house in 2016 :P

Its not sad, its pathetic. Do people really think doing drugs is healthy?? News flash...don't do drugs and maybe you won't fucking die...I'm sick of hearing about celebrities overdosing or killing themselves with the lifestyles they lead...if your life is that shitty, man the fuck up and deal with your shit...doing drugs doesn't help anything...one less scrub in the world to deal with.
There are WAY more important people dying for WAY more important causes than a shitty depressed former child star who OD'd bc he just couldn't handle his poor pathetic life. And now he's gonna get the headlines bc he was a "former child star"

Cut me a break.

Well, it sorta does. Often an artist or musician is worth more dead.

Meh... I dont think anyones crying about it...

Bad or not, drugs are a choice. He made that choice and it killed him. He lived and died with that choice.

I say fuck 'em, too. But it doesnt bother me in any way.

sherri_chickie 03-10-2010 12:03 PM

It's sad that someone destroyed his life this way.

I had the biggest crush on him as a teenager!

Just reading the little bit I did about him it's obvious he knew it would eventually kill him yet he chose not to stop..

Sad for his family but not for any of us.

Now his mother is saying that the City of Toronto is going to pay for his funeral. Ummmmm.... no. The city pays for the funerals of itinerant RESIDENTS and he hasn't lived here for years.

I bet they do anyway, because he was 'famous'...

Papa_Complex 03-15-2010 01:43 PM

The city says no but if they were, they couldn't tell us. The funeral home isn't saying. There are rumours that it's being fronted by some of his "friends."

They definately shouldnt...

I've been following this a little bit, not because I was a Haim fan (I wasn't), but because i've been dealing with addiction to painkillers for a few years now.

Being clean has taught me one thing, that acts like this are just glorifying drug abuse. People want the city of toronto to reward him with a free funeral. Reward him for what? For destroying his own life? A life that was originally blessed with fame and fortune?

I also see a lot of, 'oh, he was an innocent victim of drug dealers' posts att he bottom of news articles. There are no innocent victims, we know drugs are wrong, we know they can kill us.

His struggle is no different than anyone elses. Over two years later, and i'd still love to pop an oxy and 'relax', but I know where it got me before. My decisions were my own, and I pay for the consequences of those decisions every day. Death is a consequence, and no one else, a city or a person, should have to pay for those consequences.

In this case they determined that he went the same way as Brittany Murphy though, didn't they? An OD of over the counter and off the shelf meds? I haven't been following it, except for hearing the statement by his mother that Toronto would be footing the bill for his funeral in order to reward him for leaving here.

Naww, he was using forged scripts for Oxycontin, and apparently a lot of it.

His ex said, at one point, he was up to 50 oxycontin a day. I cant even imagine, considering the 6-7 40/mg pills a day I used to use was a lot.

Kaneman 03-15-2010 04:14 PM

50 oxycotin a day? Holy shit man...that's just unreal.

You build up an unreal tolerance.

Reports are that he was weaning off them. Its very common for this to happen when people do. They use a lot, then go to very little, then have a bad day and go on a binge. That binge kills them because their tolerance is nowhere near what it was just a month or so before.

Its the most common way for addicts to die.

Holy shit! Just the shock of the withdrawal could probably do you in, at those levels.
