When I was younger I was always wanted those top dollar cars. I could care less now though since all I'd use it for is commuting. What the hell is he gonna use it for? Most likely the same damn thing. If his parents are willing to throw down that kind of cash for a commuter then good for them. I'm happy with my $5000 car that accomplishes the same goal. Actually, I want something a little less family oriented, but you get my point.

I saw a Hong Kong kid in Vegas a long time back. He couldn't have been much more than 23-years-old with his little rich buddies. He was playing Roulette with Black ($100) chips. Who plays Roulette with black chips? One of my wife's good friends in Korean. Those motherfuckers will spend some money. Her friend doesn't think twice about walking into a store on 5th or Broadway during her lunch break and dropping $5k on a purse. |
Well it's true they love their brand names
I guess I was talking more about how their parents would raise their kids......Not how osetentatious their country at large is. From what I've seen/heard, Asian parents don't seem to spoil their kids as much as whites do. Which makes sense if you think about it, because most well-off Asian Americans started from scratch after moving here, instead of being born into money. I dunno, a kid getting a Viper or Lambo seems like something only white or black parents would do. Asian kids would get a Mercedes or BMW instead  |
As you might know Slice, I'm First Generation Chinese. And you're right mostly about the families that move here but spoiled kids pop up everywhere. Asians get a bit more credit than they're due here in the States because a high percentage of Asians (at least Chinese) who emigrate here do so to get a college education. Obviously that's not a fair representation of the whole race.
But it's somewhat true overall. A lot of our family friends - the family situation is that the parents are incredibly cheap so they have a ton of cash but they have really shitty stuff. The parents can have millions in liquid assets but still have a janky old couch covered in plastic and a car that smells funny with stained carpets. I suppose that's the smart way to go for the well-being of your whole family but most of the kids of those parents I know like to live it up just a little bit more. Funny story unrelated to the kid thing: A friend of mine went to a BMW dealership because she basically only drives Bimmers. She's a middle-aged Jewish woman. She was buying a 5-series at the time I think. Anyway, she said "Hey, there's the new M3. Maybe I'll test drive that one." The salesman said "Ma'am, why would you want to drive an M3? You're not a twenty-something Asian man." She cracked up when she told me that because I had just bought my M3 that year. |
That does seem to be the case....Asian men go for the 3-series, while 6 and 7 series are pretty much white-only in my experience. 5 series get a mix of everyone.
Mercedes seems to pull in a lot of Asian women. As for Lexus and Infiniti, funny thing is that the only ones that seem to pull Asians are the IS (for 20-something Asian men) and the ES (for middle-aged Asian women). All the other models seem to be driven by mostly whites & blacks. |

IS Series is a total estrogen mobile. I don't think they are allowed to sell it men as per Lexus reg's. Sure the older IS300's are popular with the kids on the used car market but that's the original model. |

Yep...I agree pretty much with all of this. |
