Maybe because for the young-ins...both Miata and Mini are a tad expensive and there is a lot of alternatives on the market. By the time those youngins hit mid to late 20's they are getting married and having kids so a tiny relatively expensive car looses out to something with more doors and more room for growing families.

Maybe its the simple reason that grownups with more disposable income and no need to hall kids around can splurge on a Mini or a little two seater.

That too, but mine was more fun to type

It's basically the same types of people I see in Miatas.........Age 40-55 White people.

People younger than that usually want a more "macho" vehicle, because they're still in that whole "being hard/badass/gotta protect my masculinity" stage of their life.

we have 3 here at work all driven by over 40 people. one claims it is for his 17 year old daughter.

If Mini's were available at lower price points I would have picked one up....oh crap.
I'm over 35.

never mind

I agree. For me it comes down to two things, utility and value for money. If I were making this decision right now it would be impossible for me to pick a Mini over a Mazdaspeed 3.

This pretty much had been my argument through the years for owning a Vette when someone wanted to call it a "mid life crisis car". Some of the same principles apply. I couldn't afford a new Vette when I was 20 and single.

Get a little older...make more $$...no kids in the house and first thing someone says is oh "mid life crisis". :damn:

Men buy cars.
Women buy Jewelry and clothes (and in some cases...enhancements)

Yet it is the men who get mocked for mid crisis.

"Midlife crisis" is a phrase used by young people jealous of the material goods owned by older people.
